Lively, July Wedding at The Leslie Alfred-Mims House | Holly Springs, NC | Melisa and Lee

Summer is gone and fall is definitely here, and I for one am not upset about it. Though I will say this about summer, I do love summer wedding season. There is just something about them, a certain energy that I love. People are going to the beach, up to the mountains, on awesome honeymoons, groomsmen asking second photographers to make photos of them for a let's call it 'suns out, buns out' shot (yep, calling you out Zach), and generally feeling good. Pair that with a wedding and you have a great combination. Melisa and Lee's lively, summer wedding at the Leslie Alfred-Mims house was evidence of that awesome combination.

Last year I posted a blog about Melisa and Lee's engagement session, which you can read about here, and how I was looking forward to seeing them let loose at their wedding. In so many ways their wedding day delivered just that. The wedding party was awesome. They guys were as raucous as I would have expected and as Melisa and Lee had more than hinted towards. The ladies were hysterical and fun to hang out with, we have all become better mobile AC unit installers now. And on top of that to see their two families, Melisa's originally from Argentina and Lee's from Wales, mixing it up and having a good time all day was awesome. It was fantastic right down to including some of Melisa's family in Argentina who could not make it, but joined us by way of Facetime (while I don't love phones and tablets at weddings, especially during ceremonies, this was a wonderful use of keeping family connected and together), I'd never seen that before.

What really put me over the moon with Melisa and Lee wasn't just their ties to their family, it wasn't just their great friends and it wasn't just about the good times we had prior to the wedding from wandering Wilmington for their engagement photos or the several times we got together to relax and talk over beers. No. What made them different was that while they were on their honeymoon in Bali, I delivered their gallery and all of their artwork. I didn't expect to hear back from them until they returned, but then I received an email with a little video...this video to be exact...

How can you not love that!?! I had goosebumps watching it the first time and just now as I was posting it. It's just humbling to see a couple take time out of their honeymoon to say thank you and to do so in am amazing and genuine way. And this is yet another reason why I love my couples.

But I am sure you came here for the artwork, so without further ado, feast your eyes on Melisa and Lee's lively, July wedding at The Leslie-Alfred Mims House!
