Morning Rider
Makinac Island is one of the last places in the United States where motor vehicles are not welcome, even electric bicycles are illegal. Three modes of transportation reign supreme: horses, bikes, and by foot.
While arriving to the island midday is akin to arriving at a dysfunctional parade filled with tourists with no sense of direction, the mornings are something different altogether. One of the few times you don’t see tourists waiting in line for the famous fudge or pulling rental bikes out for the day.
The Morning Rider is an ode to all of those doing work in the shadows before people wake up, after people go to bed, or just simply when others are distracted with other things. It is to say I see you.
